2008 TETNA Blood Drive

Saturday, Oct. 4
9am-2pm
Roosevelt Elementary

“I want to give back to the community” is the reason many of us choose to donate blood. Or perhaps you know someone who has received help from Blood Center of Wisconsin. Jennifer Aldrich is someone who has said both things.

Jennifer’s son, Jakob, was diagnosed in November of 2005 with a rare form of soft tissue childhood cancer. He underwent treatment (including receiving blood products) at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin through September of 2006. Jakob had a relapse in January of 2007, and received treatment a second time.

TETNA has decided to focus our efforts on helping to make Jennifer’s biannual blood drives at Roosevelt Elementary a success. Those of you that expressed interest in volunteering and/or participating will receive a call in the near future.

The fall blood is drive is scheduled for Saturday, October 4th from 9am-2pm at Roosevelt Elementary. Please call the Blood Center at 933-5000 to make an appointment (recommended), or just walk in using the 74th Street entrance. Child care and homemade treats will be provided.

Let’s make this blood drive a success—give back to the community and support “one of our own!”

2008-09 Membership Drive

Beginning in 1994, a group of conscientious neighbors surveyed area residents concerning an interest in the formation of a neighborhood association. Thirteen years later, the Tosa East Towne Neighborhood Association (TETNA) continues to be a strong community.

One of the largest areas on the east side of Tosa, the challenge of connecting with residents requires the commitment of our neighbors. Only 19% of 2100 households become members of TETNA. Our goal is to increase this number by 50 more families! Whether you can be an active participant or a supportive member, nurture the value of your neighborhood by contributing to TETNA! Membership in TETNA is more than a yearly trick-or-treat event. It’s an opportunity to reduce crime, increase our quality of life, unite in common goals, and effectively communicate to all residents.

Stroll the Avenue a Success

Thank you to all the efforts on the part of the East Town Business and Merchants Association for a great return of the “Stroll the Avenue.” The evening was enjoyed by many TETNA neighbors. It was an excellent opportunity to visit our favorite businesses and find some new ones. We look forward to next year’s event.
